Re: 100 B (going back together)

I would say by looking at the pics, you certainly know what you are about, your attention to detail,( Even got plastic on the floor).
don't forget to put one up when she's all finished.

Re: 100 B (going back together)

I sent it to a machine shop had it dipped back in the vat and it didn't touch the paint for taking it off, so he got some paint remover and worked on the insides where the oil would splash around and removed almost all of what ever kind of coating it was. He said his chemical tank wouldn't touch it. But it is all cleaned out and now put back together.

Re: 100 B (going back together)

Derrick it is coming together finally after having it tore apart for so long, but there won't be any red on it. I told my six year old daughter we woud paint it what ever color she wanted it. Well it is a shade of red but really light. But I will keep progress pics up .

Re: 100 B (going back together)

After finally getting a hold of the machine shop that applied the "paint" they said it was acrylic FP-202 paint that the chemical bath should take off. The reason for the removal of the primer from the interior of the block to keep it front chipping off and causing a bearing to spin and ruin all the new parts I was putting in it. So I had it removed to be on the safe side. The plastic is on a concrete floor to keep me from painting the concrete. It doesn't bother me any, I am just trying to figure out how I am gonna get the engine off the stand and on the chassis without a hoist.

Sorry for jumping in on the conversation late, but what was the issue with the coating on the inside of the block and why did it need to be removed?
Let me add to what rocky has said, IH as well as others used glyptal to coat the inside of engines and transmissions to keep oil from "soaking" into the metal and to aid in oil dripping back dowm to the oil pan, or as in the trans case let oil travel down channels to bearing. The coating is pretty healthy, and will stand up to oils, but paint and primer will bubble and peel in these situations, if applied thick enough, which aint good!! A pice of that comes off, gets in a bearings, and it could very well be catastrophic!!

Re: 100 B (going back together+ paint ( not original)

Today I got my motor block mated to the rest of her. And got started on applying the first and second coat of accent color. Now I know it isn't original and that may be frowned on since I completely disassembled the tractor replacing most all seals and any worn bearings. To go and paint it non original. Just for any record keepers I love the red but when your then 5 year old daughter ask you to paint it her colors I put the red aside for a slightly lighter shade . I haven't got to it yet but the accent color of smoke grey has been applied to most of the parts receiving it. So here goes progress .

Also we are going to change the letter of it to a K for my daughter Kelsey.

That is what its all about!!!!!! You know what would look good, if you coubld get the "K" to have Kelsey like the old Cultivision decal, or where it would have Farmall on the sides, make it Kelsey instead!!

Re: 100 B (going back together+ paint) non original

Not sure what the Cultivision decal looked like, but i will search it up. My vision was the Circle with the K in the middle but right under the K in the circle put FOR KELSEY . I am also having a delete plate made for the back of the transmission to take the PTO and Belt Pulley off and going to do something on that flat surface. still a work in progress. should have more pics coming soon want to have it ready for a local show on the 13th and 14th of April.
