Re: 100 B (going back together)

I sent it to a machine shop had it dipped back in the vat and it didn't touch the paint for taking it off, so he got some paint remover and worked on the insides where the oil would splash around and removed almost all of what ever kind of coating it was. He said his chemical tank wouldn't touch it. But it is all cleaned out and now put back together.
Re: 100 B (going back together)

Derrick it is coming together finally after having it tore apart for so long, but there won't be any red on it. I told my six year old daughter we woud paint it what ever color she wanted it. Well it is a shade of red but really light. But I will keep progress pics up .
Re: 100 B (going back together)

After finally getting a hold of the machine shop that applied the "paint" they said it was acrylic FP-202 paint that the chemical bath should take off. The reason for the removal of the primer from the interior of the block to keep it front chipping off and causing a bearing to spin and ruin all the new parts I was putting in it. So I had it removed to be on the safe side. The plastic is on a concrete floor to keep me from painting the concrete. It doesn't bother me any, I am just trying to figure out how I am gonna get the engine off the stand and on the chassis without a hoist.

Re: 100 B (going back together+ paint ( not original)

Today I got my motor block mated to the rest of her. And got started on applying the first and second coat of accent color. Now I know it isn't original and that may be frowned on since I completely disassembled the tractor replacing most all seals and any worn bearings. To go and paint it non original. Just for any record keepers I love the red but when your then 5 year old daughter ask you to paint it her colors I put the red aside for a slightly lighter shade . I haven't got to it yet but the accent color of smoke grey has been applied to most of the parts receiving it. So here goes progress .

Also we are going to change the letter of it to a K for my daughter Kelsey.

Re: 100 B (going back together+ paint) non original

Not sure what the Cultivision decal looked like, but i will search it up. My vision was the Circle with the K in the middle but right under the K in the circle put FOR KELSEY . I am also having a delete plate made for the back of the transmission to take the PTO and Belt Pulley off and going to do something on that flat surface. still a work in progress. should have more pics coming soon want to have it ready for a local show on the 13th and 14th of April.

Re: 100 B (going back together+ paint) non original

today was a good day, i got all the large parts with atleast one coat of paint on it. gonna let it dry over night and spray it again tomorrow. will be putting that parts all back on come tuesday and wednesday. Then to roll it out and get a good look at the paint. and finish up all the grey parts on the paint. before final install of everything. i still got a few parts to buy like the alternator and spark plugs and oil filter. but when you get down to talking about getting the oil and filters you are getting to the end of a long build. so here is where it came from for those who missed it before the crash .
this tractor plus this one
has made one. i have only used the tank and grill along with the radiator and a few seat and floor board components off the second one th complete the first one. i also had to buy a block from a salvage yard that came off a 47'. so here is where she sits as of this evening

.
John i bought a set of decals with the cultivision stickers i am going to take them to a local decal shop and have them replicated to the K with the Kelsey in the center. thanks for the Idea.

Re: 100 B (going back together+ paint) non original

Your eyes aren't playing trick it is a five feet long, the original was broke so I had my dad machine the stub that was left and put a 5/8 brass rod threaded for a shifter. I will cut it to heighth when I figure out what that is. Here are the progress for today, got all the pink painted and will be done with the grey tomorrow. Getting my tires put on the rims tomorrow and picking up an alternator and wire and other wiring stuff.

I will be putting most of the parts back on tomorrow and finishing up paint . Ready to get this thing fired up .

Re: 100 B (going back together+ paint) non original

Going to search a junk yard soon for a seat with seat belts. Something like an S-10 that has a cut out for a shifter. Or compact car . So the whole family can ride on it in style but until then I got the original seat and springs on it

Re: 100 B (going back together+ paint) non original

I got her up on her runners today and started the reassembly of all the scattered parts. I quit when I twisted off a manifold stud. Guess I didn't know my own strength. I work the next three days so I may get a little in. I had my dad make the delete plate on the transmission. And my custom gear shift. How do you like the wheel color scheme.

Re: 100 B (going back together+ paint) non original

John just checked shipping expected to be here tomorrow. I am close to being ready for them as well.
Re: 100 B (going back together+ paint) non original

i had the original Cultivision decals shipped to me. there is a local decal shop here i am going to take the Circle B with the cultivision in and have them make a circle K with Kelsey across it and see if they can change the McCormick to Kelsey's so it would ready Kelsey's Farmall. i will upload a pic when i get them to do it.
Re: 100 B careful it is pink and grey for the final color.

i am restoring it for my 6 year old daughter, i told her we would paint it what ever color she wanted it one day when we were in the paint store. that is the colors she chose. pink and grey, i determined what was what but knew the majority was goind to be pink, i got the decals in today and taking them to a local decal shop to have them make a Circle K decal with Kelsey writtne like the culti-vision decals were. and instead of it saying Mc Cormick Farmall it will say Kelsey's Farmall. I have also contacted the Susan G komen Foundation and informed them of the tractors colors and talked to my daughter about supporting a great cause if we were going to paint it the colors she chose. The foundation is sending me pamplets to hand out if asked. only thing they asked was not to put their official slogan on the tractor due to insurance purposes. so i am trying to come up with a slogan to say the same thing but different.
Re: 100 B careful it is pink and grey for the final color.

Thank you so much for that 1031d. i was so confused about that part. i have a parts tractor with it on this way and my mom's restored B on the other way or vise versa so i figured it didnt matter. Well now i know and should have just asked. thanks for that i will change it come monday. thanks for the comments i was getting a little worried the color scheme made some mad that it didn't go red.
Re: 100 B careful it is pink and grey for the final color.

up and running is the main goal and then down the line a tire at a time or maybe two depends on the funds.

Re: 100 B careful it is pink and grey for the final color.

She been fighting me tooth and nail the past few days, guess she don't want me to finish her and start a new project. The bolt stud for the manifold still won't come out gotta get a carbide bit because I broke another bit off in the stud trying to make a spot for the tap. I did get all the wiring harness done thanks again John very easy instructions to follow. I got the distributor timed per the it manual and put plugs and plugs wires on. Mounted the radiator and filled it up check for leaks by opening the drain for the oil pan to make sure the sleeves are seated for now, then filled the transmission with fluid and crank case after reinstalling drain plug. Still gotta fill the final drives. Also made another discovery.... I restored a hood that dot even fit the B, so I gotta restore the hood that does. Just small but important things to go. Have a straight pipe, battery cables and battery left to purchase and that should be the end of this build.

Re: 100 B careful it is pink and grey for the final color.

All she needs is a battery and battery cables, gotta wait till pay day for battery.
Question for those who may know, I drilled the manifold stud out accidently drilling through the back of the stud hole and into the water jacket. What would be the best way to coat the stud to keep it from leaking? Can I use pipe dope, or thread tape, or even put a small dab of liquid steel in the back of the hole to seal off the water jacket? I had to HO up a couple bolt sizes to get the bolt to hold so don't have alot of lee way for much.
I have gotten everything installed except the good which I got to redo and the passenger floor board that I have to have made. And just need a battery hooked up to see if I got the distributor timed correctly.

After I get it running and make sure no wires are wrong I will dress up the wires touch up the bolt heads and nuts with paint and get her in her best Sunday dress. I think your right Big Dave I will put a muffler on her especially since we have an extra laying around. Thanks didn't think of that.
