My gearshift lever is getting loosey goosey. It is a 3000 with 8 speed. About 10-12 years ago, I could not shift it at all. I had a mechanic come out and pull the shifter plate. As I recall, he found a broken pin about 5/16" X 2" long. He replaced it with a cutoff bolt and it shifted as good as new. The pin is probably worn and about to break again. Even though I watched him fix this, I don't remember exactly what it looks like in there and what he did. Is this a straight forward fix that I can do? Do I leave the tractor in neutral, remove the bolts and pull out the plate?
