Heres a video of my 1953 40 at work today. It was the first real test of the old IH hammer mill I had been repairing most of the winter. It passed the test well. Ran smooth and quiet compared to the old Case mill. The fibre pulley seems to have less slippage than the cast steel pulley that the Case had. I used the straw screen and it chopped the oats well enough for cattle feed although a little coarse. The fine screen has such small holes that I think it would really slow down the capacity.

Glad you all enjoyed the video. I enjoyed making it. I have run hammer mills for so many years that I tend to forget that it is almost a "lost art" as hardly anybody uses such an antiquated system for cattle feed today. For my small herd it works well and is a good way to exercise the old tractors.
