Engine wise I think they're the same. Pretty sure the difference is the SU is a utility tractor that sits lower, shorter wheelbase, and radius arms where the 4000 has the heavy axle.
4000 SU
I have worked on very few Ford tractors and a guy wants a head gasket installed in a 4000SU. Is there a differince in a 4000 and a 4000 SU. Thanks for any help.....mike

yep.. a 4000su is a 4000 with a 3000 front end... same 3 cyl engine series 4000/4000su
