I just bought a model A to restore. The rear tires are shot and need to be replaced. My question relates to wide tires. The model A currently has 12.4 x 38 tires, can 18.4 x 38 tires be used? I can buy a couple of the 18.4's on rims cheap, but will they work? Here's a pic of my new little " Poppin' Johnny".

You could fit them, but the tractor would look a bit odd, 6" might not sound a lot, but it is a lot when you get them inflated, plus it would be running downhill in the front.

I didn't really think of how it would look, probably wouldn't look right at all. Thanks for the reply!

Yea, I wouldn't go no bigger than the 13.6x38 on the A, unless I was making a pulling tractor out of it. 12.4 to 13.6 would be what I would choose, depending on which was available and which was cheaper. When the time comes, that's what size range is going on my 630, which was the newest replacement for the A before they stopped manufacturing the 2 cylinder tractors all together.
