I am having troubles with my 4240 and I was wondering if anyone could help. Nothing will work when the key is turned on. The gauges, horn, heater, stereo etc. all don't work at all. The battery connections are clean and I can trace the battery cable to behind the dash and still get 12 volts. Could it be a relay or ignition switch?

Thanks in advance

First, Welcome to ATF. Have you pulled the 2 panels around the dash? You can check the power at the switch and after the switch when the switch is on. I take it there is no power at the starter wires from the switch when switch is on....James

I've had to put ignition switches in several of the 42/44/46 series tractors in the last year or so. I would start there.

Get access to the panel and get in there with your test light. Check the resistance on the battery cables. Sometimes the look fine but are corroded on the inside. If they're good just start checking for continuity along the system until you find the problem. Definitely could be the key switch.
