At the local tractor salvage and parts store there is a lonely old styled john deere B sitting out front of the parts building. About 20 years ago they tried to get it running in the spare time unfortunately they did not have the time to restore it so they parked it. Since then some one took the wheels and rims and left it on blocks. Fast forward to 2012 me and my father are doing our daily trip for parts "Since it seems our equipment breaks done once a day and I spot the old lonely B. It turns out this is one of the few complete tractors that they are willing to sell. The owner of the yard took a vacation so I have to wait a week to get the price but I can say most likely It will be a addition to the vintage tractor collection at our farm. Since I don't know much about the Old deeres. Here is what it looks like.

This was the best Picture I got at the time, hopefully I will get some more shortly.

The wheels on this are some I have never seen on a deere. The ones I am use to are the four point dish. But theses ones are different. Can any one explain the differences.

Lastly I got a picture of the serial plate. The number is not clear but if I get it I will clean it up so I can figure out the date.

I am hoping that If the price is right that My father and I will buy and restore this and some day a 14t baler to tow behind it.
Thanks for taking the time to look. Farmall Fan

It has been more than a week now. Did you settle on a price with the owner (did you get it!!). If you did, how about some pictures of the engine, including carburator.

I'm all for a labor of love but just keep in mind with the price negotiations that if they gave it to you then you'd still have more money in parts alone than it would ever be worth. That said I wish you luck, I love to see history saved and these old jewels brought back to life.

Those back wheels look normal to me, They had 2 main styles back then (but lots of options) cast centers and pressed steel.

Pressed steel;

Cast;

Sorry about not updating but my father and I have been nose to the grind stone in the hay fields, so i have not been able to get hold of the owner. but now since we are having some rain I might be able to see if I cant touch base with the owner. From what I have found by looking, The clutch is stuck in the engaged position but the transmission shifts just fine into every gear. The engine is free since I was able to turn it by hand, Also if I can get it and find some wheels in the salvage yard that is right across the road I might be able to resurrect it right there and drive it on to the trailer. I know that if I can get a fair price ironed out with the owner it will be a few months till I can get it since I have my current income tied up in a another project. I do hope that If I can get it for a fair price I can get it home before winter and get it under cover.

Also thanks for all the information.

One big plus is the wheel flange doesn't seem (through the foto) to have hairline cracks started from the rectangle holes where wheel weights would be hung. Thats a pretty common problem on tractors that were used in heavier stickier soils where additional weight was desired.
