The 5040 was made from 1976 to 1980 and had a Uzina 40hp diesel engine. The 6140 was made from 1982 to 1985 and had a Toyosha 40hp engine. It is harder to find parts for the 6140 but parts for the 5040 are easier to come by. Are these relatively the same engine? I know the frost plug from a 5040 works in a 6140. I am now looking for crush washers for the injectors.

I have had this Long 445 since 1981. It is most likely a 1975 or 1976 model. Its engine was made by UTB in Romania. An Allis 5040 has the same sheet metal as a 445. A neighbor and my brother had a 5040 for sometime. It's transmisson had 4 forward gears and a reverse in a high/low transmission. The 445 has 3 forward speeds. There are some other minor differences but much of the tractor is the same. Not knowing the Allis you mention I personally would prefer the Long simply because you said parts were more available. I put my first replacement water pump on my 445 late last winter.
