I hope this is the right place for this.

Where is the best place to get a well made, correct, decent priced battery box for my Super Mta?

Thanks

OEMtractorparts, but they aint going to be cheap no matter who ya get it through......
There are actually 3 different new battery boxes available for that tractor. Depending on the type you have they cost approx $65 up to $95.

OEM currently show only one for the SMTA, priced on sale for $95.25.
Some of the battery boxes come with the lid, some you buy separate. Here's some pictures of the various boxes to help you figure out which one you have on yours. One mounts under the fuel tank and the others under the seat. Hope this helps.
SMTA didnt have a battery box under the tank, they were all under the seat, or at least all the ones Ive ever seen, nor did they have any "legs" that Ive seen. The tops for the first 2 would be the seat mounting bracket.
Id go with the first pic. If I remember right the supers had the battery under the seat BUT not certain :?:

I've never seen one under the fuel tank either, but here's the O.E. Part #'s for them.
OE#: 51707D
51713DBX
The first picture is the battery box that is on the tractor now, and I dont need the seat/lid.
In the super series, the battery was moved under the seat. My guess is because they added live hydraulics in the super, and the reservoir/control was moved to under the gas tank. Some very late M's I think might have had the battery box under the seat, but I'm not sure so don't quote me on that.
Some of the earliest '52 Super M's did still have the battery box under the gas tank. Mid year '52 through the end of the Super M production in '53 all had the battery under the seat. All '54's were SM-TA
When i bought a new battery box from OEM i noticed that my old one was different. old one had a piece that bolts onto the side and then the light clamps to that piece. On the new one it had a place where a pipe like piece screw in. Just found this a little weird. Nothing too major
Well I found the one on OEM, but I can'd figure out what shipping will be? Can anybody help me out here?
Use rto be able to calculate shipping on UPS by entering the zip codes and such. It was usually pretty close. You also might be able to to order it and put in all the info, but not hit the "Send" or whatever button.
I tried putting in the info but still no price. But I did look up what it would cost from Ebay, which is UPS so it should be close to the same. Came up with about $15 shipping, so thats about $110 total. Not good, but not as bad as the rest!

Thanks!
Well I ordered Thursday night, hope I get it on before the show. :)
Tried to get the old box off today, none of the bolts would come loose. We don't have the time to drill out and tap all the bolts before the show, so I guess its going with the old rotted out one! ;)

They are tough to get out! Mine was filled with rust at the bottom! I was pretty amazed it came off without breaking one
