I have been working on my Farmall H that my Grandpa bought new in 45. The pulley has never been left out side and is in great condition. I know the metal part is painted red but the flat soft part is the ?. I have seen some on restored tractors painted black or red, but was wondering if it should be left alone or treated with something . Thanks.....mike

I always paint them black, but Ive seen hundreds that just sand them smooth and a good ocat of shelac put on them.

Most guys here put them on a lathe and reface the angles then sand and varnish them. Makes the pressed paper really stand out
