A large branch fell on my 1945 A and bent the steering shaft, and broke the steering pedestal in two. I grabbed another pedestal off eBay and installed it on the tractor but the shaft is a good 8-9" below where it should be to ride through the pedestal. Any ideas on how to bend this back into shape? The bend is just before the shaft enters the casting for the steering gears at the front of the tractor. I know the shaft comes out the front of the tractor but there isn't a way to jack up the front end as the tractor has been siting idle for several years.
Thanks !

Apply a massive amount of heat, ie; oxy acetylene, to the bent piece and bend it back to where it is supposed to be.
