just went to see a buddy of mine.. he was taken north to shands burn hospital for 2 days.. now transfered back here local.. he's a golf course equipment mechanic at one of the local courses. I talk to him a few nights a week and we trade stories on parts and tractors and stuff...

he was working on some kind of grass vacume machine with a rear engine.. wouldn't start.. he pulled air cleaner off carb I guess to see if throttle linkage and all was working... someone keyes it over while he was still half inside the shell.. fireball shot out.. caught his shirt, right arm full to shoulder, left arm up to elbow, and a piece of his scalp and right eair on fire.

he was thrown back, shirt was polyester and burned up and fell into shreds...

25% burn coverage.

he's loosing alot of skin.. but they don't think he will loose any fingers.. though the right arm took the full hit as he shielded his face with it.. left arm got it tearing his burning shirt off..

when I saw him today, he said they just cleaned his hand. skin came off like a translucent glove he said.. :(

be carefull!!!

Hey Chris, sorry to here that. Whats his name so we can keep him on our prayer list. I'd rather break a rib than deal with burns. Thats some tough healing ahead.

Great news. We'll still keep praying for him.
i'll try to see him this week, maybee thursday
The lesson is "don't try to help unless you are asked". I don't know how many times I have been shocked, burned, or mashed by an unwanted helper! Thankfully it was never serious, just agrivating.
i've had helpers show up before asking what they could do.. I usually tell them.. 'here, hold this'.. and then try to find something that occupies both hands, and keeps them tethered by cord or hose to something else so they can't walk around too much.. :)

Funny but I bet it works for ya
went to see pete before work.

he goes back to shands on wednesday for re-evaluation.

so far, no infection.

inside of right arm is still 'open' it burned the worst.

he's still putting 'silvidine' (spelling) on it. on the new skin on his hand.. he had to switch to something a lil less harsh.. and is now using bacitracin.

ha has to keep the compression bandage on or his hand and arm swell.. but otherwise, his nails started growing again.. hand looks bright red like a super bad sunburn.

still loosing some skin.. but looks to be mostly out of the woods on the hand.

arm is still up in the air.. bit no infection.. and bad patch is slowly closing / shrinking.

overall.. positive results.
