I have a case ih 1594. still has a david brown diesel in it with a mini-mec cav injector pump. Tractor runs great under a heavy load but very sputtery under a light load. If i have it in neutral and open the throttle she sputters. When theres a good load on the pto or on the ground she runs fine. Is this an injection pump issue delivering too much or too less fuel?

Rule out simple things first. Is the fuel line valve from the tank completely open? How long since the fuel filter or filters have been changed? They could have some water in them. Also check the lift pump, if it has one, to see if it has an internal strainer that is clogged.

I changed filters. this has no valve at tank. not sure if it was previously removed. checked injectors and upgraded it to an electric lift pump
