Had an appointment to see my cardiologist this morning for my semi annual check up. Had labs done for him a couple weeks ago. Some one from his office called this morning and ask if I needed to see the doctor today or just reschedual my appointment for a later date, so I reschedualed. Never had a doctor visit like that. But the specialist are doing this in non emergency cases

I had an appointment last Friday with an ear /nose/ throat doctor. A young lady called Tuesday and said they wanted to do a "virtual appointment".
I responded, OK, How? She said they could do it over the cell phone or computer via some type of video chat.
I explained that my cell phone is a ten year old flip phone and doesn't access the internet. Nor does my computer have a camera or microphone.
After a few seconds of silence she said "then I guess we need to reschedule." Seemed to catch her off guard with my response.

A talking point often brought up in NC by influential folks is the lack of broadband and technological advances in rural parts of the state. I know people that have access to it but do not want it. I have always wondered if it was available, but not wanted by folks, if it would be mandated. I want to know how a doctor can check bodily vital signs via a computer. Some company somewhere will have an app for it.

Same thing with my cardiologist. I had to have an EKG back in February which came back not so good. Had a LEFT BUNDLE BRANCH BLOCK among other things I won't bore you with but I am 69 years old & worried. Had an appointment for Friday March 20th for an Ultrasound & Cardo office called to reschedule. I was worried about the EKG report & I wasn't waiting till June. Got scheduled for 03/19/2020 at 10am. Talked to the Doc and he said to do the Ultrasound right now since they told me the same as Steve said "Only Emergency Cases" from now on so I was glad I pushed back. Cardo said he'd call me the next week but no office visits. Results were good for my age. Left flappy valve heart was working but kind of slow. Hell, I told him that sounds just like the rest of me old & slow. EKG was just a tool for pre diagnostics for heart trouble. As with the virtual appointment and no broadband maybe it is a conspiracy to kill off us old people to save paying out Social Security & Medicare money. I'm getting dizzy so I best get off my soapbox....
