I just bought a Jubilee. There is no oil pressure gauge on the dash (empty hole). Can anyone tell me where the sensor for this gauge plugs into the engine block? I'm supposed to receive my manual tomorrow but I'm not sure it will show this info. Thanks if you can help.
Thank you Dave. You may be right but I can't see or even feel around behind that pump. I will try to research a little more. The manual I ordered should be here today.
Thank you. The picture is very helpful. From the research I have done thus far it appears you and Bigdave are correct. I have also found apparently at some point someone changed out the pump as it does not look like yours. The pump on my tractor is not square on the right side like yours, it is round like pumps found on other models. I will look into it further today. I hope putting this other pump on did not force the pressure sensor to be removed.
There are two types of pumps used on the NAA's. A vane style pump, and a piston style pump. Mine is the vane style. The main difference is that the vane style costs about 3X as much to rebuild as the piston.
Ya, looking at my pump it is piston style. The forward end of the pump protrudes about as far as yours but it is the same diameter as the rear section. This causes the pump to cover/hide the inlet for the sensor. I can't see much of the inlet at all. If not for the picture of yours I would not have known what that little bump cast into the block is.
I have read on the web people saying the pump needing to be removed to replace the sensor. Mention is made of using a 90 degree elbow for the installation. I guess that must be possible but it sure must be very tight fit as there can't be much clearance available.
It looks like your oil tube enters on the top of the access hole. That would make sense as it would not extend the connection further out towards the side of the pump. I would like to have an oil pressure gauge on this old engine but hate to pull the pump off because it's working just fine.
I will hold off from this issue for now as I have other issues to deal with as well. I need to install a new gas tank as well as an alternator and amp gauge. After that I will be a little more familiar with the tractor and may feel more confident about what I'm doing.
Your good info solved this problem for me. I loosened the pump from the engine block and I am able to install a sensor. I have one ordered. Thanks for your help.
