A friend of my brothers found a check wire reel for my Case 45e check row planter. It was advertised as being an Oliver or Deere reel because it was painted green.I hope to plant a small field of corn using the check wire sometime in the future.
Me and the oldest son oiled the planter before putting it up for the year.

Nick that planter is awsume. I,ve heard my dad talk about checking corn. I've seen a field that was but never done it. If you do it be sure and get some pictures, definately a dying art. I don't know where you find all this stuf but I'm glad to see someone get it that will take care of it. Don't know if they ever did in your part of the country but some of the old timers around here wuld go in and top the cornright above the ear before it was picked by hand.

Thanks for the education. Seems like a lot of work for little return. I guess our fields were too small as the farms were only seventy to a hundred acres. Again thanks for the education.
