Can anyone tell me what this is someone told me it was a fertilizer spreader I have a serial number on the piece that adapts it but the planter or spreader box and all has no identification on it what is this thanks in advance

I would say it is a spreader box, if you post the serial number you have it might give a clue.

As I look at this I remember a local farmer had an attachment with a hopper similar to yours that was used to sow grass seed, clover, and similar seeds on pastures when I was young. It was powered by the tractor pto, and did not have a supporting frame like yours. His may have bolted to a drawbar.
