I just bought a john deere 1010w and don't know the year , I have the vin # 27798 but when I researched it that number didn't come up, these did:
1010 Serial Numbers:
Location:
Plate on the engine block, right side
photo of 1010 serial number

1960: 10001
1961: 13692
1962: 23630
1963: 32188
1964: 43900
1965: 53722
Final: 57312

would anyone have any info on this?

Welcome to the site! From your own research you should have a 1962 model.

thank you, but how did you come up with that if you don't mind me asking, and another question?

If I needed parts would all 1960 - 1965 fit what ever I need for this?

Your research has the beginning serial number for each year. Your tractor number falls between the begining number of 1962 and the starting number of 1963. I have no personal experience with 1010 however I am fairly confident that most of the parts for the 1010 models will be the same. A Deere dealer will tell you.
