Will a transmission input shaft from an 8n work in a 2n transmission. We are taking a sherman out of the 2n to put in an 8n and want to put the input shaft from the 8n back in the 2n if it will work. The manual says they are different part #'s.

Yes, so long as the gear is the same cut going into the trans. Helical won't work on straight cut. Earlier models had a straight cut gear at the end of the input shaft.

ps.. same is true with that sherman.. it must be mated to the correct shaft gearing type..e tc..
