January Calf

Had a calf born here Jan. 2 and it has been really cold ever since. So I have kept it in the open front shelter since then. Cow is in with it overnight and then out for the day which has worked well. Today warmed up to +20F so I let the little guy out and he was pretty happy. Shot some video.

Doesn't look like he's taking any harm Rusty ;)
he's a frisky little critter
Good plan Rusty! I'd sure see the need to be bedded down beside a big, furry, warm body during the cold nights yall have :!: :D
If it isn't a trade secret what breed is the bull?
Don't think I have ever seen that color calf out of an angus cow.
we used herford bulls and got white faced calfs when I was a kid.
Thanks Rusty ,love seeing your video.
Think that little calf love playingin the snow.
Really neat video thank you for sharing - I love watching them play. Really good looking Mom and Calf - and the herd outside looks great too!

Just a plain old home grown bull from one of the red cows. There is a pure bred angus bull a few years back in the lineage but since then they are getting pretty inbred. Seem to be ok though. You can see the bull briefly in one of the scenes.
