Hello, new to the forum, so will say that I have owned my grandfathers JD 60 for 55 years now. It still gets used. It does have a cracked cylinder block that I plan to try and repair using Muggyweld welding electrodes at some point.
Recently a rattle noise has started happening. To me it sounds like a ball bearing failing. I have live engine driven PTO. When I turn the PTO selector OFF disconnecting the power shaft from the engine the noise stops. Should have said that with selector in ON position, the noise is there with PTO clutch on or off. Doesn’t matter. But for sure the noise goes away when the power shaft is disconnected to the engine. It would seem to be a bearing between the PTO clutch and front end of power shaft.

Has anyone in this forum been deep into a two cylinder live PTO to remedy bearing noises?
