Hey all, just curious as I am not familiar with the Power Trol or Power Lift. Been trying to do some research but would love to hear from some experts who can shed more light on the differences between them, if there are any. I am looking at a 1944 JD A that has Power Trol and wasn't sure if this would have been an optional item purchased by the owner as I didn't think they were standard equipment at this time. Thanks a lot!

The Power Trol was John Deere's name for their first two way external hydraulic cylinder and the valves to control it. I am unsure if it was standared quipment in 1944. The first John Deere external hydraulics that I know of were offered as an extra cost option on the 1939 Model H. I don't know its official name, but Power Lift sounds good! It was a one way cylinder only and the pump and single handle valve was high on the operator's left and I believe was driven from the other end of the magneto shaft. I've still got this tractor and it's available in South Jersey for scrap value if anyone want it for parts. No cylinder. My dad sold the cyl
nder in 1948!
