Model 40 Ferguson

Have never seen this model before. It just said Ferguson. Which mft does any one know. Was a beautiful restore!!!

This was something else I don't remember seeing either.

The 4 wheel drive MH was not a real success. They were obviously heavy on the front end. Though definitely ahead of their time were cumbersome and did not sell well. I would love to find one in the back of a barn though.... About the Fergie on top, there is always a cloud floating over the MH and Ferguson merger, I can't really keep it straight Mike, but as a result there are a few unique models produced during that time that have become very much sought after.

Yup the 40 is the same as a MH 50, There was also a gray fergie Pony made, I've seen one but I suppect many got a repaint of Massey red.

I had the chance to drive Dale Leadbetters 4x4 massey at the Brigdon show one year. When you look at it you think front heavy but it doesn't feel front heavy when you drive it. Once a load was hooked to the rear it did balance out real well in the traction department. It was a costly affair when new compaired to many 2 wheel drive tractors in the same plow/HP range.
Shifting is a weard affair and must be kept in adjustment to work properly. Was also dificult to line up to the belt of the saw mill saw dust mover.

Never knew they made the 4x4 massey but a good looking tractor. I have only seen two of the fortys. One was a narrow front at the Florida flywheelers in 2009 the same guy had one of the ferguson ponys. Glad you posted. Heres the one I saw in Florida

Nice!!Hate to stretch your memory but were they Harrys on the other side??They have gotten real rare around here.Sure wish I had mine back!!

I can't remember for sure. Its hard to see in the picture but it did say ferguson in blue down the hood below the muffler and I went back and looked at my pics on the computor where I could blow it up and the black tag on the frame below the headlight said PONY TRACTOR and under that looks like massey harris ferguson but not sure. The sign on the front said it was a 1954 modle but I dont know enough about them to know if that was right or not.

I have a 1956 Ferguson F-40. I'm needing to replace the rear wheels. The current wheels are 4 rail adjustable rims. My question is can I replace the rim with a 6 loop rim. The rim size is 11x28. If no one knows. Could you please point me in the right direction.
