This is the story that my great uncle, who was a real hobo in the 1930's and early 1940's, told me when I was 5 years old. I kinda wanted to believe it as I liked the old guy, but I was still sceptical.

"It got so hot in central Nebraska, that a mule went and found shade on the north side of the corn crib. By & by, it got so hot that it started popping the corn. The popped corn overflowed the crib and fell down on the mule. The mule thought that the white stuff was snow and stood there and froze to death!"
