Daughter asked me ask you guys a quick laying question. Her silkey just started to lay and they are kept in a cage in her livingroom(for those that didn,t know)Their bedding has always been pine chips but she is wanting her to nest and was wondering if she needed to use different bedding or will the chips work OK. They will not use the bedding box she built and yes there is a rooster in the coop.

Yes she wants to try to hatch a few.

put the nest box back in with a cover to keep the rooster out,use the shavings and a nest egg,then she will start laying when the time comes.
