Ole needed to buy a new horse to replace one of his old horses that was failing rapidly, so he went to a farmer that had two horses advertised for sale.

Ole looked the horses over and, as far as he could tell they were identical so he couldn't decide which one that he should buy. He checked the teeth of both horses, checked their eyes, checked their hooves and declared them all identical and in good condition. He measured their length, girth and withers - all measured identical. Ole just couldn't find any differences that would help him decide which horse to buy.

Finally, the owner suggested that maybe he should measure their height and maybe that would help him make a decisions between the identical horses. So Ole measured the height of the horses and, sure enough, the white horse was ½ hand taller than the black horse!
