hey all i have a question. a few years ago while i was at the HPOCA mount pleasant iowa summer show i heard that oliver casted some of the engines for John Deere. first off does this sound true? then if so i was wondering if oliver did cast John Deere engines what john deere models would have these engines and would oliver put there own serial numbers on them? overall i am just curious.

I have heard that IHC and John Deere did that too. I believe they were JD molds and casting #s, just cast at an Oliver foundry. They couldn't keep up and got some help. They were not Oliver motors for J.D....James

I worked at an independent foundry right out of school where we cast JD and CNH parts amoungst others. The patterns were made in house to their specs, and owned by those who contracted us. The parts had all their model numbers cast in, and in most cases they even went through our machine shop. I think this was much more common than most folks realize.
