One of Mrs. Jim's tried(many times) and truly yummy recipes :!:

About 4 cups of apples
1/2 cup brown sugar or to taste
2 tbsp. oatmeal
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
9" unbaked deep-dish pie shell
1 tbsp. water

Sprinkle brown sugar, oatmeal, and nutmeg over apples. Spoon into shell. Sprinkle with the water.

Topping:
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup oatmeal
1 tbsp. flour

Mix sugar, oatmeal, and flour. Cut into butter. Spread over apples.
***SPECIAL NOTE: Mrs. Jim melts the butter then adds the 1/2 cups of sugar, oatmeal, and tbsp. of flour until it is thick and crumbly.

Slide pie into a large brown paper bag. Fold over ends and secure with paperclips. Put on cookie sheet making sure the paperclips do not come in contact with the cookie sheet.
Bake at 425 degrees for 1 hour. Check in 45 minutes

Split bag to remove pie.

The large brown bag that grocers use are the best. They will smell like they will catch fire. they may scortch a little though. They sure are good though.
