There were a few around when I first moved here, but they left when the neighboring farms started becoming houses.
Sure do miss not hearing them calling every now and then.

Jr, there is a guy down the road from me towards Winchester, Ky that raises 1,000's of quail per year.

I have been in envoled in a conservation organization called Quail Forever for several years. Habitat loss has really hurt their numbers everywhere. I just went to a Wildlife management area north of Lexington yesterday to see the habitat efforts being done there. Heard many birds talking. Reminded me of when I was a kid at the farm. I love watching my dogs find em and point em.

I hear them often in the spring, until all the hay gets mowed. Mom was watching the greenhouse one day and said a couple came walking right down the fencerow about 20 feet from her.
