I have a papper belt pulley on my H which looks like it is dried out and it seems to have seperated some. What is the best way to go about restoring one of these peices. I was thinking of covering it in plastic and putting some water in the plastic so that it can swell back up, then sealing it with some wax.

That sounds as if it would work. I wouldn't put wax on it if you ever want to use it. I would paint it with a thined tar mixture.

I've heard linseed oil does very well...

Guy by me puts them in a lathe and makes a new beveled surface and then shalacks or varnishes it.

thanks very much. I think i will try the linseed oil. I do plan on using it as this H is probably not going to be restore just upkept and used
