Fixing to put a motor back togather for my uncles cub. Put a ring into a cylinder just to look and it seemed awful close anybody know how much ring gap these motors should have?

.007 - .017 is standard bore. I dont know if that would be the same for bored engines or not, but assume it is.

Thanks so much for the replys on the cub ring gap."raymonddurban" thanks so much for the book It has been about two years since we tore the engine down. Hope to have this runing before long.

Thanks very much for the information John M and raymonddurban. This one is .030 over and when we put a ring in it was all but touching so they will have to be filed some. Like dad said it has been apart for a couple of years but due to health issues haven't been able to work on it. The cub was given to my uncle by his brother in law before he passed away and it had been sitting for who knows how long. Don't think I ever seen a motor stuck any more than this one.
