Hi There I just got an old rugg carpet cut with a briggs 6BHS and it works fine but it wont run the gear box works i've but new wheels on the back bigger and i tore the head off the engine replaced the gasket new valves in it they work fine and PS every time i put oil in it it turn from a clear goldish oil to a non see through greyish oil ive put water in it and then tore the case off cleaned it out and i still get the color of the oil please help Me!!!! im only 12 but i have alot of money and im not like most 12 yr olds so Yeah this is my dream mower and can i get like a date for the tractor for it? Thanks!

Okay I will try to get some up if it helps any the engine is a Briggs & Stratton 6BHS It is 5HP from 1956 and it will almost start if i can get some up tonight i dont know tho cause it is 8:27PM right now but they will be up tommorow or tonight And Thank you M8

Welcome to the forum, glad you joined us. I remember those Rugg riding mowers from the mid to late 60's.
Not sure what exact years they were produced though. Would like to see a photo of yours if you can post one.
Usually the grey color comes from metal dust worn from the engine, and accumulated in the pan, when the oil isn't changed for years.
You said that you've cleaned all that, which makes me at a loss. Sorry, that's all I can think of, but maybe someone who is more familiar with those engines will know how to help.
