Spring work

Well, got started to plant spring barley yesterday, and i thought you folk might like to see my cheap one pass system for making the ground ready. Used to be when working with the 135 and 35's all you could pull was the disc, flat out, high 2nd, standing and letting the tractor buck below you.
But that was when I was young and fit  Now a days, I like to take things at a more sedate pace  so with 100 hp, 4wd and a radio  I thought  might as well make as many horses work as possible, without spending a fortune ;)

Not bad for one run, ring roller, pariter disc, pierce disc, and then the land leveler, no trouble pulling it, and I can take my time and do four passes at one time. Curious thing is, I dont seem to have any extra free time

Look like a good job well done and now it looks ready to plant.

Seems to have dried up nicely in your part of the world and your "system" looks to be working
very well, just might need a little more room to turn around ;)
Now that's getting every penny out of the price of fuel. :D
Wish it would dry up here enough for turning some dirt.
3 Weeks dry on the trot, 19-20 Deg.C cant help thinking we'll pay latter., especially when we want to make hay.
Anytime you can save a trip, it's good. :D :D
Never seen it done like that but sure saves time. Looks like the grounds working up good to.
Yessir, looks like a job well done. Using your noodle to save time and fuel. MrsMassey and myself loved every minute when we visited Ireland in '01.

Nearly time you came back  What part did you visit ?
Great idea, are you using all your traction as well? I wonder how much smaller a tractor would do the multiple harrow thing at a reasonable speed.
Ulster, I meant to mention that we had 20 to 28 here for 2 to 3 weeks, early March and for the past 4 days we have had hard frost, two snows and some days a high of 1 with lows at night of -9 to - 17. I was the same about the nice weather, what comes next?
Wyatt, last week working in shirt sleeves, but today has been bitter cold here, 3-4 deg. with wind chill also :? . Aboyne in Scotland was 24deg last week, woke to 6" snow this morning
Wyatt, I could probably add one more implement to the train in a flat field, but on a hill the traction is all needed. If I came across another trail disc, I would add it on, with a smaller leveller bar behind.

Was using my brothers power harrow yesterday, and to be honest I prefer the train, but it would be harder to move to remote fields, than the hydraulic harrow.

Is that Celcius ?? How cold is that in Farenheit? I think 0 Celcius is 32 F....so...around 35 to 40 F?? We've been getting used to the 75 to 85 F here in the midwest... :D :D
