What should be the normal operating temp for my C. I'm running around 170 if my gage is right.Is that too cool?

sounds about right to me also this is a low compression, low R.P.M., cast iron engine, not one of the over worked, over pressurized, over revving, undersized (car) alloy engines we see these days.
