had this for about 9yrs sitting in the garage. i got the mill last week so the wife wants the press done first. its in good order i think it has no name or any numbers on it but needs new wood and the rust taken off because this is something she wants to use. the cast iron is the only thing i dont know how to finish? i know there are paints and such but it will be used for food so id rather have a "natural" finish to it. i was thinking about doing it up like you would season a frying pan. im prety sure all the parts will fit in the oven.

the leg that i kept for a patern kinda hard to see in the picture but really simple

Nothing beats fresh pressed cider!!!!! Nice piece.Hard to find around here. If you do better hold onto your wallet
Have used todays version of that press. Do you have a grinder to go with it? I like fresh cider but the trees became a chore to keep and my sister-in-law cut them down. Many moons ago as a kid I remember gathering a trailer load of apples to go to the cider mill. It was water powered, I can remember the wheel, the shafts and flat belts flapping away. They would squeal when the press came up to pressure. I also remember catching a glassful right then and there. Good. Vern

no we dont have a grinder but we'll make due with something around here next year. thats some good ol' memories you have there. we hear how good the cider is alot. I'd love to see something like that in operation. we dont have trees ourselves yet but we got a few friends that have trees and dont do anything with the apples. so figured we would :)
