Memorial Day, birthdays, and others like it bring back recurring memories. This afternoon a funeral service will be held for a cousin. Since the first of the year our community has lost several good people. They and their wisdom will be greatly missed. My dad, a WWII veteran, passed at the age of 59. I think about that alot, especially since I am 9 years older than he was. We too often do not appreciate kin, friends, and neighbors until they are gone. More and more I value each minute and everything around me, even though I can be discouraged when something goes wrong. It is a human trait though. Calmness and deep breaths are needed more and more because we do not know when the clock will stop.

The thoughts you put into words reflect mine as well.
When I hit the sixty year mark in about a month and few days from now.
I will be 9 years older than my Dad when he passed, and my mother passed at 64.
It does tend to weigh on one's mind. We need to embrace everything and everybody in our lives as much as possible.
