How often does the seal go bad in the clutch quill? I have my VAC-14 split right now and it seems easy to get too.

For those that have had this item apart. Is the bearing race an interference fit? The manual says to press the bearing cup into place. My big question is does the job require a press?

The bearing is a press fit, but can be knocked out with a punch from the tube end. I rarely replace the bearings in there but I always replace the seal. There should be a stack of shims to adjust your bearing end play.

This past weekend I was finally able to get back to this project.

Is there a trick to getting the quill separated from the torque tube? I have the three cap screws off and the rod running to the clutch pedal linkage. It looks like the parts could be a pretty tight fit from my review of the manuals.
