Sorry I'm new to most farming and tractor stuff, However I found this in my grandfathers garage he recently past away and I'm curious as to exactly what this thing is what its called and what it would be used for? I'm guessing it was used for clearing brush of some sort and maybe fending off the occasional creature of the night or something.

Does the left end of it appear to require some sort of wooden handle? It looks as it could be the blade of a scythe.

I'm thinking maybe an old limb saw, or meat/bone saw.
Hard to tell from the photo, but it does have a tapered edge on the jagged side, right?
Positioning my hands to hold it seems more of a saw position than a swing.
The way the blade is made reminds me of a modern pruning saw somewhat.

It was used to cut into loose hay stacks to pull the hay out with a pitchfork.
