Hello everyone, my son and I are purchasing an Oliver Super 88 that has the standard front axle on it and would like to replace the axle assembly with the narrow row crop axle. We have access to an Oliver 770 row crop model for parts. I have read on the forum that the 77 and 88 narrow axle is both compatible to use on the 88. Would anyone know if the 770 have the same front narrow axle assembly, pedestal etc. Row crop tractors are very rare in our little corner of the world so being able to use the parts from the 770 would be a great help. Thanks for any help you can give us.

I've heard that also. I dont know if its gospel or not. Something i've never tried. We dont see many standards in this part of the woods
Hey everyone, so I’m Flatlanders son. Doing a bit of research now after being told the 770 narrow row crop might not work on our standard super 88. I’m wondering if it might. Now I’m probably wrong(feel free to correct me, my feelings won’t be hurt) but it seems in the straight and super 88 row crops(whether wide or narrow) they were attached with 6 bolts. The standard 88’s ran with 4 bolts attaching the front(that’s what ours has). But from looking at a bunch of pics of 770 and 880 their row crop front ends seem to attach with 4 bolts? If pattern matches then there might be a chance. Just wondering how the steering linkage hooks up on the 770 or 880 and if anyone has a pic of either a 770 or 880 steering linkage? ....Disclaimer: I’m new to the Oliver world so these might be dumb questions lol. My dad and me are looking at maybe building a puller out of a standard super 88 that we literally paid a song for(seemed to run ok....before it got dismantled a bit) but I do kinda like the narrow end tractors with tin sides. Also I want to get down a weight class for pulling to pull against my buddies Cockshutt 40(I do realize our 88 might have to go on a diet). PS This will be our first build for actual pulling(so we are brand new to the scene). Built up a Cockshutt 40 over the last couple years that my dad bought when he started out farming that had been sitting for around 15 to 20 years for an acreage tractor. Had a ton of fun doing it and this is what we are thinking of as our next project. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Here’s the condition of Flatlanders and mine’s Oliver Super 88. Not pretty but we have all the parts minus a couple cleats for wheels. Should be a fun project now that it’s warming up.
